Microsoft Anounces Windows 7

Posted by: freecheese on: October 14, 2008

Mike Nash at official Vista blog announced next series of windows operating system from windows. Unlike vista and xp, upcoming windows wont have a name given to it and will be simply called as Windows 7. The reason they gave was the simplicity. As mike says, “Simply put, this is the seventh release of Windows, so therefore “Windows 7″ just makes sense.”

More details on the windows 7 will be made public at the PDC and at WinHEC, where microsoft is planning to release developer only pre-beta releases.

Windows 7 will be based on the kernel of the Windows Server 2008 kernel, which is an evolution of the Windows Vista kernel.

Over past couple of years web is emerging as the global operating system for the new arrays of applications diminishing the traditional desktop based approach. Furthermore, usuablity and security are the main points against which new operating system will be judged. It’s interesting to wait and see what the “SEVEN” holds. Will it be just a patch to vista ? Will it inspires the next generation of softwares and applications ?

What you say ?
